Participation to the forum on Youth Employment in Agriculture as a solid solution to ending hunger and poverty in Africa

The COPIMUCOPO Cooperative of fish was selected to participate to the Forum on Youth Employment in Agriculture as a solid solution to ending hunger and poverty in Africa was organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nation in partnership with the African Union.

This forum took place in Kigali from 20-21st August 2018.

The cooperative COPIMUCOPO was chosen by the organisers as the leading cooperative in fish production in Burundi and composed by youth.

The president of the cooperative Mr Cyriaque NDAYIRAGIJE was given an opportunity to present on the theme Youth Developmemnt through acquaculture in order to generate revenues and reduce poverty.

COPIMUCOPO fait l’élevage des poissons de type Tilapia Nilotica et Clarias sur 50 étangs de 5 Hectares a Musenyi et Randa en Province de Bubanza. Nous récoltons plus 15 Tonnes de poissons par an qui sont vendus dans les marchés locaux et qui sont consommés par la population burundaise locale.

Students of the University of Burundi visit COPIMUCOPO cooperative

COPIMUCOPO cooperative of fish was pleased to welcome students and trainers from the Unversity of Burundi in the faculty of Agronomy. This visit was paid in a bid to show in practical to student the science of to fish farming. The students of the University of Burundi were very interested to learn about fish farming and had the occasion to ask many questions such as the characteristics of the best area for fish farming; the way to distinguish male and female fish; and how to raise fish.
